Gas & Air
An exploration of some of the now disappearing gas holders in the UK. These often ornate and complicated structures were once a crucial part of the UK's energy mix, in which natural gas, or town gas, was once stored at ambient temperates. After the discovery of gas in the North Sea in the mid 1970's, their function gradually became less important. Many of these structures are no longer standing, and the land that they once occupied has been used for property development.
