Dark Glass

The images in this series were taken in London between May and June during the coronavirus outbreak, against the backdrop of a daily rising national death toll and a growing feeling of isolation. I decided to photograph at night because it transformed the city and because it seemed like the safest time to go out. I went out looking for signs that we exist, and what I found was an absence of humanity. Every photo features a window, and the project has felt like a form of window shopping; looking at an inner world from outside. I am interested in photography as a form of dialogue - and I wanted to make use of an imperfect vision of reality or a subconscious, dream-like state in this series.
